The 1,990 vehicles roll off the production line at the Zwickau vehicle plant and the Transparent Factory in Dresden. The model was developed in collaboration with the performance sportswear brand BOGNER FIRE+ICE, part of the Munich-based luxury sports fashion company BOGNER, just like the legendary Golf II Fire and Ice, which became a surprise success in the 90s and now enjoys cult status among fans. In tribute to the original model’s debut year, only 1990 units of the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE will be available to order. Prices in Germany start from €56,020.

Danny Auerswald, Spokesman of the Board of Management at Volkswagen Saxony: "The ID.3 is a Saxony original and marked the beginning of the era of electric mobility for the Volkswagen Group at the end of 2019. With more than one million electric vehicles of the Volkswagen, Audi and CUPRA brands produced at our Zwickau and Dresden sites, our team has demonstrated that it has mastered transformation: technically, structurally and, above all, mentally. We will deliver the first ten cars of the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE in time for the IAA and the ID. Meeting in Locarno. I am convinced that with this special model, we are following on seamlessly from the surprise success of the 1990s."

Uwe Kunstmann, Chairman of the General Works Council of Volkswagen Saxony: "The ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE is an impressive special model that is a good fit for the brand and Volkswagen Saxony. After almost six years, the ID.3 is inseparably linked to the state of Saxony. With attractive and special vehicles, we ensure demand from customers and thus secure capacity utilisation and employment on our production lines. Our team is ready to build a special model every year. All colleagues involved in the project have done a great job. I would like to express my deepest thanks to them."

Dirk Panter, Saxon State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Protection: "In Saxony, we show every day that we are not only able to produce cars of the highest quality in series. The production of special vehicle editions in particular proves how diverse and flexible the Zwickau and Dresden sites are. Such special models are not just top industrial achievements - they also carry a piece of the Free State to the outside world and thus symbolise innovative strength and reliability “made in Saxony”."

The ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE is available with two motor options – 210 kW (286 PS) and 240 kW (326 PS). At both output levels, the electric motor generates a maximum torque of 545 Nm. In the more potent version, the ID.3 GTX special edition accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, with electronic regulation not kicking in until a speed of 200 km/h. In addition, the sports DCC chassis comes as standard with this model. It is available as an option for the 210 kW version. The electrical energy comes from a 79 kWh lithium-ion battery (net), which can be charged at DC quick-charging stations with up to 185 kW. With this power, the battery can be charged from 10% back up to 80% in around 26 minutes. The combined WLTP range is up to 591 km.

The ID.3: A Saxony original for the world

Since its world premiere in mid-July, an ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE has been on display for visitors at the Gläserne Manufaktur. It is the project of six apprentices from Dresden and Zwickau and visually corresponds to the series version. The idea was to bridge the gap between the world premiere and the start of series production so that customers could see the car. With a great deal of creativity and passion, a vehicle was created that has already attracted a great deal of attention from around 400 guests every day - and strengthens the Transparent Factory as a sales destination in addition to deliveries and test drives, also in the area of vehicle advice in front of customers.

Since the official start of production in November 2019, more than 350,000 ID.3s in different variants and with different battery sizes have rolled off the production line in Zwickau and Dresden. The ID.3 is available in almost 40 countries worldwide. The furthest market from Germany is the island of La Réunion (around 9,000 kilometres as the crow flies), followed by French Guiana (around 8,000 kilometres as the crow flies), Martinique and Guadeloupe (each around 7,500 kilometres as the crow flies). Around one in ten vehicles in the ID.3 series is a sporty GTX model.

03. Maximum possible charging capacity. The charging behaviour of different charging stations can differ, even if their kW capacity is the same. In addition to a charging station’s kW output, the maximum charge current also influences the amount of energy that flows. Furthermore, the ambient temperature, battery temperature and charge level influence the maximum possible charging capacity. The specified maximum charging capacity is calculated under WLTP conditions at a temperature of approx. 23 °C and a charge level from five per cent. If these variables change, the charging capacity may deviate from the specified standard value

04. Range determined on the rolling road test bed in accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) in the most range-favourable equipment variant. The actual WLTP range values may differ depending on the equipment. The actual range achieved under real conditions varies depending on the driving style, speed, use of comfort features or auxiliary equipment, outside temperature, number of passengers/load, topography and the ageing and wear process of the battery

World premiere of the T-Roc: new generation of the best seller is high quality and innovative http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/731-volkswagen-garage-london-the-time-has-come-volkswagen-presents-the-new-t-roc http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/731-volkswagen-garage-london-the-time-has-come-volkswagen-presents-the-new-t-roc The time has come: Volkswagen presents the new T-Roc! Developed completely from scratch, the second generation of the best seller boasts an expressive design and innovative drive systems. The high-quality interior features a newly designed cockpit, an infotainment screen measuring up to 33 centimetres (13 inch) and background lighting that creates a lounge-like atmosphere. In addition, the T-Roc offers more space in the interior and luggage compartment. New assist systems and technologies from higher vehicle classes complete the model. Examples include Travel Assist and the driving experience control. Pre-sales of the new T-Roc start in Germany on 28 August, with the market launch scheduled for November. Prices start at 30,845 euros for the 1.5 eTSI with 85 kW/115 PS.

Second generation with a new design. The model’s major leap forward in terms of development can be seen at first glance in its powerful, clean design. It retains the characteristic T-Roc DNA with the coupé-like rear end and makes the most of the advantages of 12 cm more overall length compared with the predecessor model. The larger proportions are what make the dynamic design possible.

The lighting design also plays a significant role in the new interpretation of the T-Roc. New LED headlights at the front are standard. IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights are available as an option (standard for R-Line and Style in Germany) and are connected to the white illuminated Volkswagen logo by a narrow light strip. The rear end of the T-Roc also features a continuous LED crossbar with a red illuminated Volkswagen logo (depending on equipment).

High-quality interior and best-in-class features. The interior has been significantly improved and impresses with its premium quality, soft surfaces and innovative technologies. For example, the dash panel is upholstered in a newly developed fabric, which creates a lounge-style atmosphere together with the background lighting. The new T-Roc adopts numerous features from the larger Tiguan and Tayron models, such as the latest evolutionary stage of the driving experience control, which can be used to select driving profiles and control the volume, among other things. A new feature in the T-Roc and in its class is also the optional windscreen head-up display, which projects important information such as speed or navigation pictograms directly on to the windscreen in front of the driver.

More space for up to five people. The space in the new T-Roc is suitable for long journeys and families. Even if people taller than 1.85 m are seated in the front, passengers of a similar stature can comfortably sit in the rear thanks to the extra 12 cm added to the length of the new T-Roc. In addition, an electrically adjustable 14-way ergoActive seat with massage function will be available in the Style version for the first time in the T-Roc. The boot volume increases by 30 litres to 475 litres when loaded up to the height of the rear seat backrests.

Technology transfer thanks to MQB evo. Following the current Tiguan (debut in 2024) and Tayron (debut in 2025), the new T-Roc is the third SUV from Volkswagen to be based on the latest evolutionary stage of the modular transverse matrix, the MQB evo – and thus benefits from the hardware and software developments in this modular assembly matrix. These include a new development stage of Travel Assist. It not only supports automatic lane changes, but can also react with even more foresight to speed limits or the lifting of speed limits. For the first time, the new T-Roc also has systems such as Park Assist Pro on board. This system uses the memory function to ensure trained and thus fully automatic parking over distances of up to 50 metres and enables a smartphone to be used to drive the vehicle into and out of parking spaces. The exit warning system is also available as an option and can warn occupants before the doors are opened that cars or bicycles are approaching from behind.

Mild hybrid as standard. The new T-Roc will be available exclusively with innovative hybrid turbocharged petrol engines on the European market. For the launch, there are two 48V mild hybrid drives (1.5 eTSI) with 85 kW (116 PS) and 110 kW (150 PS). They will be followed by two full hybrid drive systems that have been developed entirely from scratch. These always have front-wheel drive. As with the predecessor model, the new T-Roc will also be available later down the line with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive – in combination with the 2.0-litre TSI, which will then likewise be offered as a mild hybrid (mHEV). A T-Roc R will also be available in the future as the most powerful variant. All 1.5 and 2.0 mild hybrids feature a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

New range of versions. The equipment matrix for the new T-Roc will now be more clearly structured and customer-focused. In order to make configuration as simple as possible, Volkswagen has combined standard and optional individual features and packages with the four equipment versions. The packages are precisely tailored to customer preferences, resulting in a streamlined range of standard and optional equipment at attractive prices. In addition, the package range has been reduced by 50 per cent. The range consists of the basic Trend version (focus on budget and functionality), the first expansion package Life (focus on functionality and comfort) as well as the two top-of-the-line versions Style (focus on design and technology) and R-Line (focus on sportiness).

A total of six paint finishes are available for the new T-Roc: Pure White solid, Wolf Grey metallic as well as the new paint colours Canary Yellow solid, Flamed Red metallic, Celestial Blue metallic and Grenadilla Black metallic. The roof is also available in the bi-colour Black Solid colour. In addition, all versions of the T-Roc can be ordered with a towing bracket whose drawbar load (80 kg) is also designed for transporting heavy e-bikes.

A car from Europe for Europe. The first generation of the T-Roc was launched on the market in 2017 and quickly established itself. An update followed in model year 2022. Last year, about 292,000 new vehicle buyers across Europe opted for the compact all-rounder, which is produced at the Portuguese plant in Palmela near Lisbon. A total of more than two million units have been sold to date. This makes the T-Roc the world’s most successful SUV from Volkswagen after the Tiguan.

Volkswagen at the IAA MOBILITY 2025: Experience the brand world anew in Open Space Munich http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/730-volkswagen-garage-london-four-new-products-at-a-glance-including-a-new-all-electric-id-show-car-and-the-all-new-t-roc http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/730-volkswagen-garage-london-four-new-products-at-a-glance-including-a-new-all-electric-id-show-car-and-the-all-new-t-roc At this year’s IAA MOBILITY, the Volkswagen brand is underlining its claim to offer mobility for everyone: VW is presenting four new models at the freely accessible event area in Munich city center. The open stand concept represents the brand’s approachability, invites visitors to explore and inspires the exchange of ideas. The Open Space will be open from Tuesday, September 9, through Sunday, September 14. Admission is free.

You can find an overview of the program at: https://www.volkswagen.de/de/marke-und-erlebnis/iaa2025.html.

Two years ago, Volkswagen entered into a dialog with visitors to the IAA MOBILITY with its urban world of experience. In a few weeks, it will be that time again: The company will present new vehicles and innovative technologies, and will invite visitors to a variety of events in the city center of Munich.

Martin Sander, Volkswagen Board Member for Sales, Marketing and After Sales: “With our appearance at the Open Space, we are showing what Volkswagen stands for – today and tomorrow. It stands for innovative mobility, emotional products and a clear commitment to our customers. For us, the IAA MOBILITY is more than just a trade fair – it is a stage on which we make it possible to experience Volkswagen’s vision of mobility for everyone. The Open Space illustrates how we are shaping the future – accessible, diverse and at the center of life.”

The Volkswagen stand at the Open Space will focus on the vehicles: A fully electric compact SUV will have its world premiere at Odeonsplatz. The concept vehicle will offer a glimpse of a new member of the electric ID. family from Volkswagen. Its production version will complete the Electric Urban Car Family of the Brand Group Core, i.e. the merger of the Volkswagen Group’s volume brands. “The IAA show car completes Volkswagen’s entry-level mobility for Europe – fully electric and highly efficient. The show car sets standards within its class in terms of design, quality, operation and space. It is a concrete preview of an affordable electric vehicle in the T-Cross class. The car will be on the market as early as next year,” says Kai Grünitz, Board Member for Technical Development at the Volkswagen brand.

Shortly after its world premiere, the all-new T-Roc will also be on show for the first time at the Open Space. Another highlight will be the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE, designed in collaboration with the performance sportswear brand BOGNER FIRE+ICE. The limited special edition can be experienced in Munich together with its predecessor, the legendary Golf II Fire and Ice from the 1990s, which now enjoys cult status among fans. Following its world premiere at the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring, the exclusive anniversary model Golf GTI EDITION 50 – the most powerful production GTI to date with 239 kW (325 PS) – will also be making a guest appearance at the IAA MOBILITY 2025.

With interactive stations and digital presentations, each vehicle world invites you to discover new things and resonate emotionally with the brand. This concept includes the GTI History Wall, a racing simulator and the option to create personal AI moments. Visitors young and old can get to know the adventure areas in a playful way during a discovery rally. The Future Materials Lab offers a glimpse into the future: Here, experts from the Volkswagen Materials Laboratory and Design will provide information on recyclable and innovative materials.

There will also be a varied, free stage program and a wide range of culinary delights – including the legendary Volkswagen Currywurst and free Melitta coffee in the open air. Concerts with artists such as Armi Warning and Pa Sheehy will take place on stage. There will also be keynote speeches on topics such as “Professional sport and mobility” and expert talks, including one with music legend Peter Maffay. You can view the detailed program schedule here: https://www.volkswagen.de/de/marke-und-erlebnis/iaa2025.html.

All contact and communication points in the Open Space are designed to be as barrier-free as possible. Easy access is ensured by a floor guidance system, tactile floor plans, stair lifts, ramps and furniture that can be driven under. All information is easily accessible thanks to Braille and easy-to-read contrast writing, self-explanatory pictograms and the support of a sign language interpreter for the stage program.

A milestone in the transformation: Volkswagen delivers the 1.5 millionth all-electric ID. model http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/729-volkswagen-garage-london-volkswagen-brand-has-reached-a-significant-milestone-in-its-transformation-to-electromobility http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/729-volkswagen-garage-london-volkswagen-brand-has-reached-a-significant-milestone-in-its-transformation-to-electromobility The Volkswagen brand has reached a significant milestone in its transformation to electromobility. In the presence of the Minister President of Lower Saxony Olaf Lies, the 1.5 millionth vehicle worldwide from the all-electric ID. family was today handed over to a customer at the Volkswagen plant in Emden. The anniversary vehicle is a black ID.7 Tourer Pro, which raises the bar in its class with a range of up to 606 kilometers.

“1.5 million ID. models delivered – this clearly shows that Volkswagen is a pioneer in the field of electromobility,” said Martin Sander, Board member for Sales, Marketing and After Sales. Almost exactly five years ago, in September 2020, the first electric vehicles from Volkswagen’s all-electric ID. family were delivered. Volkswagen now tops the registration statistics in the electric segment not only in Germany but also in Europe. “This confirms that our portfolio contains the vehicles our customers need. As a company, we are on the right path. Volkswagen remains a trailblazer in the ramp-up phase of electromobility,” Sander explained.

In the company of Kai Grünitz, member of the Board of Management responsible for Technical Development, and Minister President Olaf Lies, Sander handed over the key to the anniversary vehicle to a customer from Vechta in Lower Saxony. “The ID.7 embodies the strength of Lower Saxony and is proof of the state’s ability to transform,” underlined Lies, whose official car during his tenure as Lower Saxony’s Minister for Economic Affairs was an ID.7 built in Emden.

The plant in East Frisia is a prime example of Volkswagen’s transformation. In recent years, the Group has invested over one billion euros in converting it into an exclusively electric vehicle manufacturing facility. Aside from Zwickau and Gläserne Manufaktur Dresden, Emden is the only Volkswagen plant worldwide dedicated solely to electric vehicles. Further ID. models are rolling off the production lines in Hanover and Chattanooga (USA), as well as in Foshan, Changsha and Anting (all China).

The ID. family has grown steadily since its launch in 2020, with the compact model ID.3 – Volkswagen’s first vehicle developed exclusively as an electric car – being followed a year later by the SUV ID.4 (2021) and its coupé version ID.5 plus the electric bus ID. Buzz. The most recent additions to the ID. family are the ID.7 and the ID.7 Tourer, which came out in 2024. The ID.7 Tourer was the electric vehicle with the highest number of registrations in Germany in the first half of 2025. “The entire Volkswagen team can take pride in these statistics,” Minister President Lies said.

Board Member for Sales Martin Sander still believes there is a need for political action to accelerate the ramp-up of electromobility: “A clear message and specific government incentives are needed if we are to reduce skepticism among private buyers and boost demand in this group.” Currently, the vast majority of new electric vehicles are registered to commercial customers who receive other tax breaks.

Volkswagen is pressing ahead with its electric mobility campaign by launching new ID. models: the production version of the compact ID. 2all costing under 25,000 euros will be launched in 2026, to be followed one year later by the production version of the ID. EVERY1, an entry-level model costing around 20,000 euros. Sander: “The goal is clear: Volkswagen wants to make electromobility accessible to everybody – affordable, reliable and sustainable.”

VOLKSWAGEN ID.3 GTX FIRE & ICE: 1990S SPECIAL EDITION REIMAGINED FOR THE 21ST CENTURY http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/728-volkswagen-garage-london-newcomer-pays-tribute-to-1990s-cult-classic-golf-mk2-fire-and-ice http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/728-volkswagen-garage-london-newcomer-pays-tribute-to-1990s-cult-classic-golf-mk2-fire-and-ice Passion, performance and panache come together in perfect harmony for a special- and limited-edition Volkswagen: the ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice. But you’ll need to be as nippy as the car itself to get your hands on one, because production is limited to just 1,990 units worldwide.

Volkswagen developed the newcomer’s eye-catching design in collaboration with BOGNER, the Munich-based sports fashion brand known for its luxury and high-tech ski wear. It pays tribute to the 1990s Golf Mk2 Fire and Ice, which has since achieved cult status among Volkswagen fans. A show car version was unveiled at the ID. Meeting in Locarno, Switzerland, last year. Now it is going into production and, in tribute to the original model’s debut year, only 1,990 units of the ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice will be built.

The striking ultra-violet metallic paint was developed especially for this unique model and is a similar hue to its legendary Golf forerunner. With a geometric F+I pattern on the C-pillar, plus numerous details in the interior, the ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice honours its predecessor and transfers the original design idea into the all-electric modern age.

Other highlights include 20-inch Locarno alloy wheels with diamond-turned surface, red roof strips in anodised paint, puddle lights in the door mirrors – representing fire on the passenger side and ice on the driver’s side – and the original Fire & Ice logo from the 1990s on the roof spoiler. Volkswagen’s latest-generation LED tail lights are tinted exclusively for this model, while GTX lettering on the tailgate and wheel trims provide exterior finishing touches.

‘Firey’ Flame red and ‘cool’ Floxal blue touches continue the hot and cold theme on the inside, while sports seats with built-in head restraints are inspired by BOGNER FIRE+ICE collections; they are quilted in the style of down jackets and feature the hint of a zip and the FIRE+ICE logo in the centre. The steering wheel, instrument panel, door trims and floor mats are also customised with coloured stitching and logos.

Performance-wise, the Fire & Ice model boasts the same credentials as its ID.3 GTX Performance counterpart. It is available with a 326 PS (240 kW) motor that generates maximum torque of 545 Nm – enough to propel the car from standstill to 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds and achieve an electronically limited top speed of 124 mph (where permitted). The GTX-specific chassis set-up, which is equipped with uprated stabilisers and sport DCC adaptive chassis control, is also tuned to the drive system’s high performance. Electricity is supplied by a 79 kWh (net) lithium-ion battery, which can be topped up at DC fast-charging stations with up to 185 kW – enough to take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in about 26 minutes. The combined WLTP range is 367 miles.

Daniel Hiendlmeier, Managing Director and Chief Brand Officer of BOGNER, said: “The revival of the cooperation between Volkswagen and BOGNER FIRE+ICE after more than 30 years, and the realisation of a series production model, is a major milestone for us. What started as a show car has become a market-ready vehicle that will excite both fans of the iconic Golf Mk2 Fire and Ice and a new generation. It is a strong statement for the relevance of connecting fashion and mobility.”

Martin Sander, Member of the Volkswagen Board of Management responsible for Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, said: “The response to last year’s show car was overwhelming. Many Volkswagen fans expressed a strong desire to see this car enter series production, and we were only too happy to make that wish a reality. The ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice demonstrates the emotive appeal of our premium sports model, while also carrying a piece of Volkswagen history into the electric future.”

The ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice can be ordered at any Volkswagen Retailer from Thursday 7 August, priced £48,360 (on-the-road recommended retail price including VAT).

NEW VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT eHYBRID MATCH AND BLACK EDITION TRIMS AVAILABLE TO ORDER FROM 14 AUGUST http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/727-volkswagen-garage-london-the-multi-award-winning-volkswagen-passat-can-be-ordered-in-two-new-ehybrid-trim-levels http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/727-volkswagen-garage-london-the-multi-award-winning-volkswagen-passat-can-be-ordered-in-two-new-ehybrid-trim-levels The multi-award-winning Volkswagen Passat can be ordered in two new eHybrid trim levels from Thursday 14 August: Match and Black Edition. These value-focused newcomers replace the Passat Life and R-Line eHybrids and come with more features than the outgoing variants at no extra cost. Monthly payments, for any customers funding their purchases with Volkswagen Financial Services, could also be lower as a result of enhanced residual values for the new trims (subject to terms).

All Passat eHybrids are already packed with attractive and useful features as standard. These include wireless phone charging and multiple charging ports for devices, digital radio and IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration, massage seats, Park Assist Plus with memory feature, a rear-view camera, adaptive cruise control and a host of safety systems including advanced driver attention and drowsiness monitor.

The new Match and Black Edition eHybrid models bring with them plenty more equipment for no extra outlay. Additional features in the Match compared with the outgoing Life trim, which would normally cost £3,890 if ordered as options, are:

  • Metallic paint
  • IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights
  • Tinted glass (65 per cent) in rear windows
  • Assistance pack including area view and emergency assist

Additional features in the Black Edition compared with the outgoing R-Line trim, which would normally cost £4,905 if ordered as options, are:

  • Metallic paint
  • 19-inch Leeds alloy wheels
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Privacy glass (90 per cent) in rear windows
  • Winter package including heated front and rear seats
  • Head-up display and 15-inch infotainment screen
  • Assistance pack including area view and emergency assist

Both new trims come with a 1.5 TSI 204 PS hybrid-petrol engine paired with a six-speed automatic direct-shift gearbox (DSG); the new Black Edition eHybrid can also be ordered with a more powerful 272 PS version of the same engine, again with a six-speed DSG.

The 19.7 kWh (net) battery in all Passat eHybrids offers ranges of 83 and 77 miles with the 204 PS and 272 PS engines respectively (WLTP combined) – more than enough to cover daily drives for the vast majority of motorists. The battery can be topped up from five to 80 per cent capacity in just 26 minutes with up to 40 kW of DC electricity at public chargers.

The new Passat Match eHybrid is priced £44,555; the new Black Edition eHybrids are £48,900 and £51,420 for the 204 PS and 272 PS versions respectively (all on-the-road recommended retail prices including VAT).

Over 90 per cent capacity: ID.3 battery impresses in ADAC’s 160,000-kilometre endurance test http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/726-volkswagen-garage-london-the-adac-testers-have-given-the-id-3-an-excellent-report-after-four-years-of-endurance-testing http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/726-volkswagen-garage-london-the-adac-testers-have-given-the-id-3-an-excellent-report-after-four-years-of-endurance-testing The ADAC testers have given the ID.3 an excellent report after four years of endurance testing. The engineers at the Test and Technology Centre in Landsberg am Lech (Germany) covered more than 160,000 kilometres. The key takeaway: the high-voltage battery still has a net capacity of 91 per cent. An ID.3 Pro S with a net battery energy content of 77 kWh was tested. As for all other ID. models, Volkswagen guarantees that the battery of the ID.3 still has at least 70 per cent of its original net capacity after eight years of operation or 160,000 kilometres of driving.

“The result shows the impressive quality of our ID. models even after covering many kilometres,” emphasises Martin Sander, member of the Volkswagen Board of Management responsible for Sales, Marketing and After Sales. “A high battery capacity of over 90 per cent after 160,000 kilometres confirms that our ID. models are also very attractive as used cars and continue to meet the requirements of our customers.”

The ADAC testers did not go easy on the battery. In order to reach the 160,000 kilometres as quickly as possible, rapid charging stations were used to charge the ID.3 for over 40 per cent of the charging sessions. In addition, contrary to what is recommended, the vehicle was also left at the charging station with a 100 per cent charge level between test drives, sometimes over several days.

The endurance test was the first of its kind for an ID. family vehicle. Between the test drives, the ID.3 was repeatedly checked by the engineers at the Bavarian Test and Technology Centre, particularly with regard to its battery condition.

The ADAC has a clear recommendation for customers: software updates should always be installed. During the endurance test, the ID.3 received several software updates – including the Electric Vehicle Route Planner, which plans the charging stops on a longer route so the destination is reached as quickly as possible. In addition to the charge level, the system also takes into account the current traffic situation and forecasts. Alongside various bug fixes, the updates included an increase in charging capacity to up to 170 kW.

The updates also had a positive effect on consumption and thus the range. In particular, the new software significantly improved power consumption over short distances and in winter temperatures from 0 to 5°C.

Other positive points highlighted by the ADAC testers: despite the high mileage, the body and chassis were in good condition. The axles, suspension and steering coped well with the vehicle weight and did not show any significant issues or problems.

Powerful, iconic and individual: ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE show car enters series production http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/725-volkswagen-garage-london-volkswagen-is-launching-a-limited-special-edition-of-the-id-3-gtx-fire-ice http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/725-volkswagen-garage-london-volkswagen-is-launching-a-limited-special-edition-of-the-id-3-gtx-fire-ice Just a year after the world premiere of the show car, Volkswagen is launching a limited special edition of the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE, with an extremely dynamic powertrain, exclusive paintwork and a wealth of design highlights.

Martin Sander, Member of the Volkswagen Board of Management responsible for Sales, Marketing and After Sales: “The response to last year’s show car was overwhelming. Many Volkswagen fans expressed a strong desire to see this car enter series production, and we were only too happy to make that wish a reality. The ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE demonstrates the emotive appeal of our premium sports model, while also carrying a piece of Volkswagen history into the electric future.” Volkswagen unveiled the show car at the ID. Treffen in Locarno in 2024.

Powerful motors, large battery and high charging capacity.

Bespoke exterior design. The main distinguishing feature of the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE’s exterior is its Ultra Violet Metallic paintwork. The unique colour scheme is a tribute to the legendary Golf predecessor, which was available in a similar hue. The roof frame strip also adds a sporty touch with its powerful red anodised paintwork in Flaming Red. The C-pillar is adorned with a transparent matt decal bearing the geometric FIRE+ICE pattern. In addition, the roof spoiler features the Fire and Ice logo from the 1990s. Another stand-out feature is the set of 20-inch Locarno rims. These emphasise the car’s dynamic presence with Ultra Violet Metallic anodised paint, a high-sheen finish and a striking red GTX centre wheel trim. The latest-generation LED tail lights have been tinted exclusively for the special model. Another highlight comes in the form of the light projections that appear when the doors are opened, displaying graphics representing the elements of fire and ice on the driver side and passenger side respectively.

Striking interior details. The interior features a two-tone colour scheme. The accent colour “On Fire Red” dominates the seats and stitching on the driver side, while the passenger-side seats and interior feature design elements in “Keep Cool Blue” for ice. The steering wheel, instrument panel, door trim and floor mats have also been customised with coloured stitching and logos. Inspired by the BOGNER FIRE+ICE collections, the seats are quilted in the style of down jackets and feature the hint of a zip and the FIRE+ICE logo in the centre.

Close collaboration with BOGNER. As with the Golf 2 Fire and Ice and the ID.3 GTX show car, designers from Volkswagen and BOGNER worked together closely. Daniel Hiendlmeier, Managing Director and Chief Brand Officer of BOGNER: "The revival of the cooperation between Volkswagen and BOGNER FIRE+ICE after more than 30 years and the realisation of a series production model is a major milestone for us. What started as a for a show car has become a market-ready vehicle that will excite both fans of the iconic Golf II Fire and Ice and a new generation. It is a strong statementfor the relevance of connecting fashion and mobility."

Extensive standard equipment. The ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE comes with a range of features as standard, which are combined in different packages:

  • The Interior Plus package including premium sport seats with electric massage function, Augmented Reality Head-Up-Display and Harman Kardon sound package
  • The Convenience package including 2-zone Climatronic and navigation system
  • The Assistance package including Park Assist Plus, rear view camera system, Keyless Access and ACC electronic distance control
  • In addition, a sports suspension is included as standard with both versions of the limited-edition model
  • The 240 kW (326 PS) version is also equipped with sports DCC adaptive chassis control and can be fitted with size 235 sports tyres as an optional extra.

Fighting clichés: Volkswagen takes a stand at the Women’s EURO with attitude campaign http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/724-volkswagen-garage-london-vw-supporting-the-future-leaders-in-football-workshop-series-for-fifth-time http://mailrelay.volkswagengaragelondon.co.uk/volkswagen-garage-london-news/724-volkswagen-garage-london-vw-supporting-the-future-leaders-in-football-workshop-series-for-fifth-time With the ‘Your Life. Your Journey. Your Football’ attitude campaign, Volkswagen is taking a stand for equal opportunities in football as part of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025. As a partner of the European Women’s Championship and a sponsor of seven of the 16 national associations taking part, the corporation is once again underlining its commitment to equality in football. A panel organised by Volkswagen on the topic of ‘Female Empowerment’ with experts in economics and sport discussed the progress in women’s football as well as the visibility of women in society.

‘We have been wholeheartedly promoting women’s football and women in football for many years now. We want to help make women more visible – in football and thereby also in society,’ highlighted Christine Wolburg, Chief Brand Officer of the Volkswagen Brand during the panel ahead of Germany’s Euro match against Denmark in Basel.

The car manufacturer’s commitment not only focusses on the peak, but also targets the breadth: thus, Volkswagen, in addition to being a partner of the UEFA Women’s EURO in Switzerland, also supports the Future Leaders in Football training programme – a platform enabling young women from around the world with a passion for football to share ideas. ‘By supporting this workshop series, we are promoting even greater female involvement in football,’ says Wolburg.

Not least thanks to the commitment of corporations like Volkswagen – whose involvement includes being an active partner of VfL Wolfsburg since 2012 – women’s football has made ‘an incredible leap forward’ within a short period of time, says former long-standing German team captain Alexandra Popp. ‘The progress that the visibility of women’s football has made in recent years is extremely positive. Within a short time frame, professionalism, quality, and awareness have been increased significantly.’

During the panel, Lisa Währer, Managing Director of FC Viktoria Berlin, highlighted the positive fact that no fewer than seven of the 16 Euro competitors have female trainers. ‘This is progress that I would also like to see in the world of work. Women are still often underrepresented in managerial positions even though they make up 50 percent of society.’

The Burda publishing house proves that there is another way: there, two women – Anke Helle and Mateja Mögel – are the editors-in-chief of the magazine ‘freundin’. ‘As a dual leadership, we want to demonstrate how women can better support each other,’ said Mögel during the panel in Basel. ‘We are living out female empowerment.’

At the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, Volkswagen’s #NotWomensFootball attitude campaign attracted international attention. With this intentionally provocative slogan, the car manufacturer pointed out that the way people speak distinguishes between football and women’s football – as if they were different sports. The attitude campaign for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 ‘Your Life. Your Journey. Your Football’ addresses the question ‘Who does football actually belong to?’. It focusses on personal relationships with football. Part of the answer is presented in a video clip in which Germany’s women’s team play an important role.
